Are you a seasoned Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with extensive experience in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)? If so, we have an exceptional opportunity for you to join a specialist educational setting in Basingstoke as a Deputy Support Lead Manager.This full-time, permanent role offers a salary range of £35,235 to £38,626 per annum, aligned with NJC Pay Range 7.

About the Role

In this leadership position, you will work within a transformative setting, providing education to students who face significant barriers to learning due to their SEMH and ASC needs and providing guidance to the staff involved with providing this. As the Deputy Support Lead Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing the delivery of a trauma-informed approach, embedding Thrive practices, and leading a team dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of our learners.

The setting accommodates up to 42 students who are at risk of exclusion or have been permanently excluded, alongside providing outreach support to mainstream schools for students requiring additional behavioural and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and Manage: Oversee a dedicated team of behaviour and pastoral support staff, ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality support for students with complex needs.

Behaviour and Pastoral Support: Take charge of the implementation of personalised behaviour interventions, de-escalation strategies, and post-incident reviews to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.

CPOMS Management: Take responsibility for the school’s CPOMS system, ensuring accurate reporting, conducting incident reviews, and providing training to staff on proper usage.

Curriculum and Mentoring: Support curriculum development within the Alternative Provision, with a particular focus on behaviour-related teaching and student mentoring.

Staff Deployment: Coordinate the deployment of staff for behaviour support throughout the school day, including lesson support, transitions, and unstructured times.

Collaboration: Maintain strong communication with families and external agencies, ensuring student reviews, risk assessments, and safeguarding processes are effectively managed.

Training and Development: Deliver in-house behaviour training and lead staff development in behaviour management techniques to support the professional growth of the team.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly skilled and compassionate professional with substantial experience in supporting students with SEMH and ASC needs. You should be a highly experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant who is now ready to step into a leadership role where you can influence change and make a lasting impact on both students and staff.

You will bring:

Expertise in SEN: Significant experience working with students with SEMH and ASC, and a proven ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively.

Leadership Potential: Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills, with a natural ability to motivate, support, and guide a team.

Resilience and Compassion: A proactive and compassionate approach to working with vulnerable students, maintaining high expectations and fostering positive relationships.

Commitment to Growth: A passion for continuous professional development and a desire to advance in your career, with experience in behaviour management and staff training highly desirable.

Relevant Experience: A background in education, youth work, or social care is highly desirable.
