Main duties of the job

Theatre and Outpatient Clinics: Time will be divided between operating theatres and outpatient clinics, including managing outpatient wound care within their scope of practice.

Specialist Knowledge: Utilise extensive cardiothoracic surgical specialist knowledge at the MSc level.

Direct Clinical Support: Provide specialist clinical advice and support and liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Surgical Skills: Perform surgical skills in the peri-operative environment as first and second assistant.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Expert Specialist Resource: Act as an expert specialist resource and educator for colleagues, patients, carers, and families to achieve effective patient care and recovery.

Collaboration and Improvement:

  • Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Work closely with Consultant Surgeons, Surgical Care Practitioners, the Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner, and other MDT members.
  • Service Re-appraisal: In conjunction with the Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner, will be responsible for overseeing and delivering service improvements and audit cycles to optimise delivery of patient care.
