Are you already a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse with proven leadership skills looking to develop specialist nursing skills? Or are you a band staff nurse ready to develop in your role as a clinical leader?

We are looking for a proactive nurse who can demonstrate a patient-centered approach to clinical practice, a problem-solving approach, and excellent collaborative communication skills. The successful candidate would be required to co–ordinate the Gynaecology, lead, maintain and contribute to the development of standards of practice within the team and deputise for the Unit Senior Sister in her absence.

Main duties of the job

To provide and maintain a high standard of care based upon and reflecting the Trust values to patients.

  1. Deputise for the Unit Manager in his/her absence across the full range of management responsibilities.
  2. Lead in a specific area of ward practice, as agreed, making recommendations, coordinating projects and developing practice guidelines and policies based upon robust evidence, gained from risk assessment, audit and literature review.
  3. Promote effective communication and teamwork at all levels.
  4. Demonstrate clinical leadership skills and evidence of specialist knowledge.
  5. Develop, manage and monitor the performance of a team of nurses, ensuring that the highest standards of care and safety are achieved and maintained at all times.
