Job summary

Dalkia is offering a permanent Deputy Shift Lead position at a data centre in the Welwyn Garden City area. You will be the primary technical contact for engineers, manage maintenance tasks from instruction, and ensure stock, records, and safety standards are upheld on site.

The role requires electrical qualifications (level 3), 18th Edition, and HVAP, with prior data centre exposure. 12-hour continental shifts across days and nights are expected with various benefits on offer.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for Engineers for technical support.
• Receive electronically PPM instructions from the Concept system and undertake all maintenance tasks in accordance with these instructions.
• Ensure all maintenance consumables are available and arrange replenishment to maintain stock levels.
• Complete all electronic and paper records to keep an accurate Site Log Book for the Client.
• Undertake diagnostic analysis as required by the system.
• Carry out visual condition inspections and submit written reports on potentially unreliable items.
• Perform general maintenance and housekeeping to maximise life expectancy of equipment.
• Follow Health & Safety Codes of Safe Working and Environmental policies.
• Report omissions or risks that could affect a Safe Working Environment.
• If appropriate, report on subcontracted works.
• Attend to emergency call-out requests promptly and keep the Client updated.
• Suggest improvements to Contract Manager to add value and improve productivity, costs, or quality.
• Complete breakdowns as needed.
• Keep plant areas clean and tidy.
• Respond to client requests promptly.
• Maintain site records and logbooks.
• Look for ways to continually enhance site operation.
• Carry out any other duties as required by the Supervisor / Contract Manager.

There's a permanent opportunity for you here as a Deputy Shift Lead to join one of our data centres in the Welwyn Garden City area

The Role

• Be the first point of contact for Engineers for technical support.
• Receive electronically PPM instructions from the Concept system and undertake all maintenance tasks in accordance with these instructions.
• Ensure all maintenance consumables are available and arrange replenishment of all items to ensure agreed stock levels are established.
• Complete all electronic and paper records such that an accurate Site Log Book record of all works remains on site for the Client's information and approval.
• Be able to undertake any diagnostic analysis that the whole system may require.
• Undertake a visual condition inspection of all installed equipment and submit a written report of any items that appear to jeopardise any aspects of reliability.
• Carry out general maintenance and good housekeeping practices and plant room cleaning to ensure that the life expectancy of all installed equipment is maximised.
• Participate in Health & Safety Codes of Safe Working and other Environmental issues to ensure total compliance with Dalkia's Health, Safety and Environmental Policy.
• Report any omissions or risks that might compromise a Safe Working Environment.
• If appropriate report on the performance of any sub-contracted works.
• Attend to all reasonable emergency call-out requests as speedily as possible and maintain good communications with the Client with the progress of all outstanding works.
• Make recommendations to the Contract Manager on matters concerning continuous improvement and “adding value” that may improve the productivity, costs, quality of service delivery etc. of all work for which the Company has a responsibility.
• Complete as and when necessary any breakdowns.
• Ensure plant areas Dalkia are responsible for are always clean and tidy.
• Respond to client requests promptly.
• Maintain all site records and logbooks
• Look for ways to continually enhance the operation of the site.
• Any other duties as required / requested by the Supervisor / Contract Manager.

Hours of Work

• 12 hours shifts, continental shift pattern – days and nights.
