Qualifications

SRG are looking to recruit a Deputy Senior Chemist to join our client's team in Ayrshire. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Senior Chemist to ensure that an effective and high-quality analytical service is provided to meet reporting deadlines on the various types of samples / commodities submitted to the laboratory for analytical evaluation. They will also support with management of the chemistry lab on a day to day basis.

The Role:

  • You will be responsible for carrying out analytical methods and standard operating practices without supervision to a high degree of precision and accuracy, ensuring that an effective and high-quality analytical service is provided.
  • Carrying out method development and validation within chemistry section using a number of analytical instrument techniques including GCMS, ICP-MS and IC.
  • Ensure full compliance with company's ISO 17025 accreditation, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
  • Working hours are 7:30 to 15:30 Monday - Friday. This may move to a later shift pattern on a rotational basis.

Requirements:

  • Extensive within a laboratory analytical setting.
  • Hands on experience in ICPMS is preferable.
  • Experience of managing people.
  • Ability to plan and implement method development and validation work.
  • Troubleshooting knowledge and general problem solving.
  • Able to provide mentoring, coaching, training and technical support.
  • Ability to effectively lead and drive a team.
  • Highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong quality focus with a strive for excellence.
  • IT skills - Microsoft and Google applications.
  • HNC or HND in Science related subjects or equivalent as a minimum.
