Job summary

365 People is seeking a Deputy Section Leader for a busy, high-volume logistics operation in Lutterworth. You will lead a team of around eight on the night shift, on the warehouse floor, not desk-based, and report to the Section Manager to keep operations moving.

The role requires hands-on leadership, a proactive attitude, and strong on-floor decision-making to ensure safety, efficiency, and on-time delivery, with opportunities for progression into Section Leader and Warehouse Management.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of around eight warehouse colleagues.

Job description

A busy, high-volume logistics operation in Lutterworth is looking for a Deputy Section Leader to join the night shift team. This is ideally an immediate start, although the right candidate with a notice period will also be considered. This is an opportunity for an experienced Warehouse Team Leader, Deputy Section Leader or Senior Warehouse Operative looking to step into a hands‑on leadership role within a fast‑paced distribution environment. This is not a desk‑based position. The successful candidate will be out on the warehouse floor, leading by example and keeping the operation moving.

The Role

The Deputy Section Leader will be the senior operational presence on shift, supporting the Section Manager by leading a team of around eight colleagues across warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and on time while helping the team achieve productivity and service targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and supporting a team of approximately eight warehouse colleagues.
• Allocating work and keeping the shift running smoothly.
• Working alongside the team carrying out warehouse duties including tipping, picking, packing and stock movement.
• Operating VNA and PPT equipment where required.
• Monitoring workload, space and operational flow throughout the shift.
• Escalating issues early and always offering solutions rather than simply reporting problems.
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety, housekeeping and productivity.
• Supporting the Section Manager by ensuring a smooth handover between shifts.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will enjoy leading from the front and will not be afraid to roll their sleeves up. They will naturally take ownership, keep standards high and help the team stay focused during busy periods.

• Previous experience as a Deputy Section Leader, Warehouse Team Leader, Team Leader or Senior Warehouse Operative within a busy warehouse or logistics environment.
• Confidence leading small teams and allocating work effectively.
• VNA and PPT experience would be highly advantageous.
• A proactive attitude and the confidence to make decisions on the floor.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to get involved in every aspect of the operation.
