Job description

Hunnitots Day Nursery is looking for an Early Years Practitioner to join the nursery team as a Deputy Room Leader, providing care for children aged 4 months to 5 years.

As the Deputy Room Leader, you will work closely with the Senior Nursery Room Leader to ensure the room runs effectively and efficiently in compliance with Nursery policies and OFSTED standards. You will take responsibility in the Room Leader's absence and supervise other staff within the room. We seek individuals with excellent communication and listening skills to plan the day and respond to the children’s needs.

Hunnitots Day Nursery, based at Ipswich Hospital, accommodates approximately 70-80 children daily. Parents can choose from over 10 different sessions between 7 am and 6 pm, catering to various staff working patterns at the Trust.

Main duties of the job
  1. Create and develop a stimulating environment to meet individual children's needs, aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS).
  2. Plan and supervise engaging experiences for all children, catering to their developmental stages.
  3. Ensure all Tapestry observations are completed by Key Persons and update children’s information through liaison with parents, carers, and staff.
  4. Liaise with the Senior Nursery Nurse/Room Leader regarding SENCO or Child Protection concerns.
  5. Communicate with parents/carers of new Key Children during initial visits and complete relevant forms.
  6. Support staff and students in establishing positive relationships with children, families, and team members.
  7. Stay updated with the Code of Practice, SENCO objectives, and EYFS curriculum.
  8. Oversee students, liaising with their tutors and supporting their objectives.
