Derby City Council is seeking two Deputy Registration Services & Ceremonies Officers for diverse roles within their statutory team. We are looking to recruit suitably experienced and enthusiastic candidates to join our Statutory Registration Services Team in Derby.
It is a varied role within an extremely busy department which will see you involved in some of the most important events in peoples lives. This will include, certificate production, registration of births, deaths, still births and marriage and citizenship ceremony attendance and administration. There may also be the opportunity to conduct Marriage, Civil Partnership and other non statutory ceremonies.
You must have the ability to:
• understand, interpret and apply detailed regulations to ensure procedures are followed correctly and statutory obligations adhered to
• demonstrate a high level of accuracy and have clear legible handwriting for the production of legal documentation
• prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
• work effectively as part of a team in a fast paced working environment
• demonstrate competence in the use of IT systems both windows based and bespoke to registration.
Attention to detail, good command of written and spoken English and a smart appearance are all essential for this post.
Previous experience working within the Registration Service would be an advantage as would confidence in public speaking. However full training can be provided.
Experience of working in a customer facing role is also essential as is the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
You must be flexible in your approach as the role will require you to work at different locations around the City of Derby and involve working weekends, bank holidays and out of normal office hours to cover the needs of the service. You may also be required to work additional hours for which additional pay will be made.
