Our Pensions Administration business is growing, and we are seeking an experienced Deputy Payroll Manager for our Middlesbrough office with hybrid working. This role suits someone with previous pension payroll experience.

XPS, a FTSE 250 company, uses expertise, technology, and analytics to serve over 1,400 pension schemes, managing pensions for over one million members and advising schemes of all sizes.

The Team

Our award-winning pensions administration team focuses on scheme administration, outsourcing, member communications, and scam protection.

The Role

As Deputy Payroll Manager, you will:

  • Work with the Payroll Team to ensure high-quality pension payroll services.
  • Manage service delivery, quality, profit, and sustainability for your client portfolio.
  • Oversee daily team activities, monitor performance, and conduct regular meetings and appraisals.
  • Identify training needs, mentor staff, and support team development.
  • Coordinate compliance, motivate colleagues, and contribute to management meetings.
  • Assist in recruitment, participate in marketing activities, and provide expert pension payroll advice.
  • Lead projects, ensure legislative compliance, and attend trustee meetings when possible.
Your Profile

Essential Criteria

  • Expert knowledge of pension payroll activities and legislation.
  • Experience with Public Sector schemes and payroll systems.
  • Supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong numerical skills and IT proficiency.
  • Minimum academic qualifications: three C grades at A Level or equivalent, with strong GCSEs in Maths and English.
