Deputy Operations Manager – Bottling

Location: Unicorn Packaging Centre, Stockport (with occasional travel to other sites)

Salary: up to £55K depending upon experience + Benefits

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Day Shift) – flexibility required for shift/weekend cover as needed

The Role

As Deputy Operations Manager, you’ll support the Bottling Operations Manager in running the daily operations of our bottling facility. You’ll lead, develop and motivate production teams, ensure operational compliance, champion continuous improvement, and drive safety, quality, and performance across the site.

This role plays a vital part in the success of our operations – acting as a key link between management and the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coach production teams to deliver on safety, quality, and productivity targets
  • Plan and manage resources including materials, plant and people
  • Drive colleague engagement and create a high-performance culture
  • Implement lean tools and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure effective communication across teams and shifts
  • Support training and development plans across the bottling team
  • Monitor and manage performance – including reviews, underperformance, and disciplinary processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support regulatory compliance
  • Be audit-ready every day – leading the charge on workplace organisation and hygiene standards
  • Participate in site leadership activities and represent the bottling function across departments

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within manufacturing, production, or bottling

  • Strong understanding of lean methodologies and continuous improvement

  • Capable of managing change and projects
  • Strong decision-making and analytical ability

Desirable:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with data/reporting tools
