About the Deputy Manager position

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, enthusiastic, and organized individual with experience in early years to join our team as a deputy manager at Teddies nursery.

If you are highly motivated, flexible, and passionate about working with children, this role is ideal for you.

Deputy Manager responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the nursery manager daily and assisting the team.
  • Working collaboratively within the nursery team.
  • Making operational decisions in the absence of the manager.
  • Following all administrative procedures.
  • Being a positive role model for staff.
  • Having a thorough understanding of nursery policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in staff training.
  • Managing staffing levels and deploying staff as needed during absences.
  • Attending management meetings.
  • Being flexible with shifts and covering staff absences.
  • Conducting fire checks, reading meters, risk assessments, and maintaining housekeeping standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to achieve at least a 'good' Ofsted rating.
  • Monitoring safeguarding issues following local authority procedures.
  • Preparing the nursery for Ofsted inspections and implementing recommendations.
Deputy Manager requirements:
  • Level 3 qualification in childcare.
  • Good understanding of Ofsted requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience working with children and families.
  • Extensive safeguarding knowledge.
  • Experience working with parents and external agencies.
  • Managing administrative tasks effectively.
  • Previous experience as a room supervisor or deputy manager in a nursery setting.
  • Enthusiasm, professionalism, and creativity.
Experience:
  • Childcare: 2 years (preferred).
Salary:

£13.80 per hour (negotiable based on experience).
