**Position Overview**
The Deputy Manager will support the nursery manager, oversee daily operations, and ensure compliance with all policies and standards, including Ofsted requirements. You will also assist in staff training and development, and help prepare for inspections.
**Responsibilities**
- Support the nursery manager daily and provide leadership in their absence
- Work collaboratively with the nursery team
- Make operational decisions in the manager’s absence
- Follow administrative procedures
- Model positive behavior for staff
- Maintain knowledge of nursery policies and procedures
- Assist in staff training and supervision
- Manage staffing levels during absences and emergencies
- Participate in management meetings
- Be flexible with shifts and cover as needed
- Conduct fire checks, risk assessments, and ensure housekeeping standards
- Ensure compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Monitor safeguarding issues and follow local authority protocols
- Prepare for Ofsted inspections and implement recommendations
**Requirements**
- Level 3 qualification in childcare
- Understanding of Ofsted requirements
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS and experience working with children and families
- Extensive safeguarding knowledge
- Experience collaborating with parents and external agencies
- Ability to manage administrative tasks
- Previous experience as a room supervisor or deputy manager in a nursery
- Enthusiasm, professionalism, and creativity
**Experience**
- Minimum 2 years childcare experience preferred
**Salary**
£26,208 per year (negotiable based on experience)
