Overview

Royston Day Nursery are searching for a driven and passionate Room Leader to join their Toddlers in the 2-3's Room due to internal promotion. Royston Day Nursery is located near the centre of Royston on Lumen Road, a 5 minute walk away from the train station with good transport links. The nursery also has its own carpark. This role is full time, 40 hours per week.

Room Leader Full Time 40 Hours Per Week

Salary: GBP29,536 per annum + Qualification Bonus

We value the dedication and expertise of our Level 3 Practitioners. We offer a GBP400 Qualification Recognition bonus to all Level 3 Practitioners across all nurseries. The bonus will be paid after 6 months of service (based on a 40-hour week; pro-rata for part-time staff).

Role and responsibilities

Royston Day Nursery follows individual interests and development approaches to create a warm, home-like atmosphere to help children thrive. As Room Leader, you will collaborate closely with other rooms to ensure smooth and positive transitions across the setting, contributing to a nurturing and welcoming environment for all.

  • Provide stimulating and purposeful experiences, environments and resources to children, appropriate to their age and development.
  • Enhance the all-around daily needs of children, including physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
  • Assist staff in updating the EyLog system and their child learning journals with high quality entries.
  • Promote respect and credibility for this position by leading as a role model with impartiality and consistency.
  • Assist with embedding an effective key person approach to enable children to form secure attachments and identify training or development needs for staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and accounts relating to children and staff on EyMan system and on file.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent and visitor at all times.
  • Ensure the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS are met.

Room Leader requirements and skills
  • Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification – Essential
  • Over 1 year's experience working in Early Years – Essential

  • Knowledge of Ofsted expectations to achieve a Good or Outstanding rating – Desirable
  • Knowledge of the statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements – Essential
  • Fluent in written and spoken English – Essential
