Job description

Applications are invited from committed and experienced Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, or Social Workers to join the Severe & Profound Adult Learning Disabilities Residential Home team as a Band 6 Deputy Manager within the Adult Learning Disabilities Service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.

This Home provides support to service users with severe and profound learning disabilities, complex physical and sensory disabilities, and behaviour that challenges within a community setting, including those who require 24-hour care.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake the assessment of service users with complex needs.
  2. Guide, advise, and direct other staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care received by service users.
  3. Contribute to the recruitment and retention of team members.
  4. Undertake the professional development review process with identified team members. Support staff with performance issues and develop plans to address developmental needs.
  5. Act as a professional role model for junior staff, promoting high standards of practice and strong professional values.
  6. Act up as necessary in the absence of the manager.
Additional Information:

Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system but has its own salary scale. The Guernsey Band 6 salary range is £46,152 to £62,310 plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/Public Holiday.

Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days, with full credit for NHS or Local Authority service for annual leave and sick leave.

Person Requirements:
  • Full UK professional registration as a Registered Nurse, Social Worker, or Allied Health Professional.
  • Post-graduate experience in Adult Learning Disabilities at senior Band 5 or Band 6 level.
  • Completion of a recognized Teaching and Assessing/Mentorship qualification.
  • UK driving license.
