Job Title: Deputy Manager - Residential Children's Home

Location: Ormskirk

Salary: £34k+

Hours: Full-time

Reports to: Registered Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an inspirational and dedicated Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day running of our home. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to safeguarding and empowering vulnerable young people, while also contributing to a positive and supportive staff culture.

The Deputy Manager will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care and compliance, leading by example, and creating a home where children feel safe, valued, and supported to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Registered Manager in the daily operations of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and internal policies.
  • Act as a positive role model for children and staff, promoting resilience, independence, and emotional well-being.
  • Lead, supervise, and support a team of residential care workers, ensuring they deliver outstanding care and consistent routines.
  • Build trusted relationships with children, creating a homely environment that is nurturing, structured, and trauma-informed.
  • Participate in care planning and risk assessments, ensuring each child's needs and progress are clearly documented and acted upon.
  • Support recruitment, training, and development of staff, promoting a culture of learning, accountability, and care.
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of absence.
  • Promote a culture of loyalty, professionalism, and commitment to continuous improvement and child-focused outcomes.

What We're Looking For

  • A passionate individual who is genuinely committed to improving the lives of children in care.
  • A loyal and dependable team player with a strong sense of integrity and responsibility.
  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - Level 5 or willingness to work towards it is highly desirable.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a residential childcare setting, including supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation (including Children's Homes Regulations 2015), and Ofsted expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and lead confidently under pressure.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work, including availability for on-call duties, weekends, and shift work as needed.
