Job description

gap healthcare is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Deputy Manager to join a Children s Home in Basildon. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well established and supportive care setting. The home provides a safe, nurturing environment for young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

As Deputy Service Manager, you will support the Registered Manager with the daily running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care and safeguarding for the young people. You will lead and motivate a dedicated team, contribute to care planning and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the home in accordance with Ofsted standards and company policies
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Team Leaders and Support Workers
  • Support with assessments, transitions, and development of care plans
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for young people
  • Contribute to staff recruitment, training, and supervision
  • Liaise with external professionals and families to ensure the best outcomes for residents
  • Participate in the on-call management rota

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management (or working towards)
  • Minimum 6 years experience in social care, with at least 2 in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and regulatory frameworks
  • Passion for supporting young people and promoting their development
  • Flexibility to work across shift patterns and on-call as required
