Job Title: Deputy Manager – Children’s residential home
Location:Stoke on Trent
Salary:£40,000 per annum
Contract:Full-time, permanent

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager or Team Leader to join a new children’s residential home in Stoke-on-Trent. The home is registered for up to three children and young people aged 6-13 years old.

You will work for a small residential provider supporting children and young people, many of whom have experienced multiple placements in foster care, children’s homes, or inpatient mental health services, and may have diagnoses of mental health or developmental difficulties.

Your key responsibilities as the Deputy Manager:
Supporting the Registered Manager in leading a dedicated team, maintaining high standards of care, developing staff, enhancing care practices, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. Your leadership will empower staff and children, guiding them towards positive outcomes.

  • You will be ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and reach their potential.
  • You will support the Registered Manager by organizing and leading a team of Residential Child Care Workers, role modeling, planning shifts, and managing the rota.
  • Work with your team to promote therapeutic parenting principles.
  • Provide support, share knowledge, and supervise team members to fulfill their duties.
  • Encourage learning and development, motivating the team to improve and adhere to best practices.
  • Assist the Registered Manager with training, health and safety, safer recruitment, HR, and administrative duties.
  • Build strong relationships with your team, families, communities, and multi-agency partners to support the welfare and development of children and young people.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 or 4 qualification in Residential Childcare.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in children’s residential homes and 1 year at a Senior or Team Leader level.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes regulations (2015) and quality standards.
  • Comprehensive induction, training, and ongoing professional development.
