Job description

Applications are invited from committed and experienced Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, or Social Workers to join the Complex Residential Home team as Band 6 Deputy Manager within the Adult Learning Disabilities Service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.

This Home provides support for five Service Users with varying degrees of learning disabilities, sensory and physical disabilities within a community setting, including those who require 24-hour care.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Support the Service Manager in assessing service users with complex needs.
  2. Guide, advise, and direct staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  3. Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts.
  4. Conduct professional development reviews with team members and support staff with performance issues, developing plans to address developmental needs.
  5. Act as a professional role model, promoting high standards of practice and professional values.
  6. Step in as acting manager when necessary.
Salary and Benefits:

The Guernsey Band 6 salary range is £46,152 to £62,310, plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements: 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/Bank Holidays. Annual leave starts at 36 days, up to 42 days, with full credit for NHS or Local Authority service for annual and sick leave.

Person Requirements:
  • Full UK professional registration as a Nurse, Social Worker, or Allied Health Professional.
  • Post-graduate experience in Adult Learning Disabilities at senior Band 5 or Band 6 level.
  • Completion of a recognized Teaching, Assessing, or Mentorship qualification.
  • UK driving license.
