Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly motivated Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day leadership and management of a childrens residential home. Working closely with the Registered Manager, the Deputy Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015, delivering high standards of care, and safeguarding the wellbeing of children and young people in a therapeutic, supportive environment.
As a Deputy Manager, you will be a role model for best practice in childcare and team leadership, and you will actively promote the ethos and values of our client across the home
Main Responsibilities:
Support the Registered Manager in delivering a safe, high-quality, and nurturing environment in line with Ofsted standards and the Childrens Homes Regulations 2015.
Deputise in the Registered Managers absence and provide leadership support across the home.
Promote and model our clients therapeutic ethos, ensuring it is embedded in staff practice.
Oversee care and placement plans, ensuring timely reviews, risk assessments, and statutory meetings are completed.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, reporting concerns in line with policy and legislation.
Support children in accessing education, therapy, community activities, and opportunities that build life skills and resilience.
Manage staff rotas, ensure adequate coverage, and lead on team performance, supervision, and development.
Contribute to safer recruitment, induction, and training of staff, ensuring high standards of care delivery.
Maintain accurate records, complete reports, and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality assurance requirements.
Promote open communication with families, professionals, and external agencies involved in the childrens care.
Required:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (Essential)
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (Desirable or willingness to complete)
Knowledge of Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and Ofsted inspection frameworks
Minimum of 2 years Experience in a senior residential childcare role
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people to thrive
