Job summary

Bridge Oak Care Homes is seeking a Deputy Manager for Ashworth Grange, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. This permanent, full-time role (42.5 hours per week, includes alternative weekends) offers a hands-on leadership position within a compassionate, resident‑centred care home.

You will lead and support staff, coordinate resident care, liaise with GPs and families, and ensure high standards of care and communication across the team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar management role within care services.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and resident wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective communications with the Home Manager and team.
  • Supervise staff, residents, relatives and external partners as required.
  • Report incidents and safeguarding concerns and coordinate with care professionals.
  • Oversee resident care planning and regular reviews to ensure quality of care.
  • Organise and participate in staff and resident meetings as needed.
  • Ensure clear handover notes are provided to all staff upon shift changes.
  • Balance planning with hands‑on management to cover shifts when needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Deputy Manager, you'll play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by:

  • Maintain effective communications with the Home Manager.
  • As requested by, and/or in the absence of, the Home Manager maintain effective communications with Residents, Relatives, Staff Members, Operations Manager, Divisional Office and any other concerned bodies.
  • Obtain a report from the Person in Charge, and advice the Home Manager, regarding any incident/accident, and the status of any Residents whose care / health is causing concern. Complete CQC & Safeguarding alerts as required.
  • Supervise visits and liaise with GPs in order to establish a good relationship between GPs / Health Care Professionals and the Care Home.
  • Ensure a clear and concise handover report is given to all Staff Members.
  • Arrange / participate in Staff and Resident meetings as and when required
  • Take responsibility for Resident care, as designated by the Home Manager in his / her absence and the absence of the Deputy Home Manager.
  • Assess social and health care needs of new Residents, and maintain on-going assessment and review of all other Residents.
