Job Description Job Title: Deputy Lead Clinical Pharmacist
Reports to: Clinical Lead Pharmacist
Place of Work: Unity Healthcare, Haverhill

Job Purpose The postholder will operate within their professional boundaries, supporting and collaborating with a team of clinicians in general practice. They will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient-facing role. The post holder will closely work alongside and deputize for the Clinical Lead Pharmacist, providing mentorship and support in leading and developing the clinical pharmacy team within the practice.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support and lead various operational procedures, including clinical audits, medicines optimization, and medication safety processes.
  • Work closely with and deputize for the Clinical Lead Pharmacist.
  • Collaborate with a wider team of clinicians in the practice with a multi-disciplinary approach under the direction of the practice’s Clinical Lead GP.
  • Independently manage patients with long-term conditions and/or minor illnesses within independent prescribing competence, with scope to develop specialist areas.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to the clinical pharmacy team, supporting with 1:1s and appraisals as needed.
  • Support general practice staff with prescription and medication queries.
  • Contribute pharmaceutical advice for the development of the practice.
  • Ensure implementation of local and national guidelines and formulary recommendations.
  • Provide education and training to team members on changes to local formulary prescribing or conduct practice spotlight sessions as required to upskill staff.
  • Attend various practice meetings as required within the scope of the role.
  • Remain up-to-date with recent developments and maintain personal CPD and professional registration.
