Job description

As a Senior Clinician or existing Deputy Hospital Director with extensive experience in Mental Health settings, this is your opportunity to join our team at The Chimneys in Bury St Edmunds. You will have the chance to build the team around you, help shape the culture, and positively influence how the service is run.

You will support the Hospital Director in leading the service, managing clinical and non-clinical teams, and acting as the Clinical Lead for Quality and Compliance.

As a Deputy Hospital Director, you should have previous project management experience, overseeing Clinical and Operational functions of the hospital. You will deputise for the Hospital Director, attending internal and external meetings with key stakeholders.

Your role is crucial in ensuring the success of the service. Reporting to the Hospital Director, you will support the development of a high-quality, bespoke pathway of care for service users.

As a senior management team member, you will participate in the on-call rota, which may require out-of-hours visits for support and audits.

To be successful as a Deputy Hospital Director, you will:
  • Hold a relevant Clinical qualification and professional registration (e.g., Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or Social Work).
  • Have several years of senior management experience in a Mental Health setting.
  • Demonstrate management/leadership training and a willingness to complete our internal leadership program.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have experience managing Clinical and Operational teams and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Be capable of handling multiple issues in a dynamic environment.
  • Have awareness of the wider Healthcare economy and political landscape.
  • Understand statutory regulations in detail.
  • Be able to oversee and deliver site projects.
  • Have knowledge of regulatory processes and the CQC.
  • Be up-to-date with legislation related to the patient group.
  • Have experience with audits and Compliance in a clinical setting.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.

Where you'll be working

Location: New Rd, Rougham, Bury St Edmunds, IP30 9LR

You will work at The Chimneys Clinic, a 12-bed service supporting women with emerging or personality disorders. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote mindful practice, engagement, and recovery activities tailored to each woman's needs.

The service aims to reduce harmful behaviors and replace them with effective strategies to improve lives and achieve personal goals.
