A prominent educational institution in Wakefield is seeking a Deputy Health and Safety Manager to join their Estates team. You will ensure a safe environment for staff, students and visitors, and lead initiatives in health and safety training. Qualifications

  • GCSEs in Maths and English A*-C/9-4 or equivalent.
  • NEBOSH Certificate required.
  • Membership of IOSH or actively working towards it.
  • Full clean UK driving licence required for travel between sites.
  • First Aid at Work qualification or willingness to achieve.
  • ISO9001 – Internal Auditor or willingness to achieve.

Responsibilities

  • Support in developing, testing and maintaining the Group’s Incident Management and Business Continuity plans.
  • Support in the development and delivery of annual programme of Health and Safety training.
  • Monitor national security alerts and guidance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Health and Safety policies and risk assessments.
  • Assist in managing RIDDOR reporting and liaising with HSE/EHO.

Deputy Health and Safety Manager

Location: Working across the Group – Wakefield, Castleford and Selby Colleges
Salary: £35,071 - £37,201 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Weeks: 52 weeks per year

We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Deputy Health and Safety Manager to join our Estates team to help ensure a safe, compliant and positive environment for all staff, student and visitors across our Campuses. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a values-driven education group, where your expertise will directly support the wellbeing and success of our college community.

Responsibilities
  • Support in developing, testing and maintaining the Group’s Incident Management and Business Continuity plans
  • Support in the development and delivery of annual programme of Health and Safety training for the Group, such as Fire Safety, Manual Handling, and DSE Assessments
  • Monitor national security alerts and guidance, ensuring the Group remains responsive
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Health and Safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments
  • Assist in managing RIDDOR reporting and liaising with HSE/EHO as required
