Job summary

Alton Park Junior School invites a capable Deputy Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team and work closely with the Headteacher to drive school improvement and high expectations. You will champion safeguarding as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, promote inclusive practices, and oversee OPAL Play and Learning.

You will lead staff development and wellbeing, model excellent classroom practice, and strengthen pupil achievement across the school within a nurturing community.

Qualifications

• UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven senior leadership experience within the primary sector.
• Strong safeguarding leadership background and commitment to child protection.
• Ability to lead and motivate staff, build strong relationships with families and the community.

Responsibilities

• Lead safeguarding as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and ensure statutory compliance.
• Drive whole-school behaviour, inclusion, and character development.
• Oversee OPAL Outdoor Play and Learning programme to promote engaging play.
• Contribute to School Improvement Plan (SIP) and Self-Evaluation Form (SEF).
• Model outstanding teaching practice and support learning across the school.
