Job summary

Bidford on Avon Primary School invites applications for a Deputy Headteacher to join the leadership team from January 2027. You will lead teaching across the school, model high standards, and work with the Headteacher to shape strategic development within a Church of England primary setting.

Qualifications

  • Holds QTS and has recent experience of teaching the National Curriculum.
  • An outstanding classroom practitioner with high aspirations for every child.
  • Experience of raising standards and improving outcomes for pupils.
  • Experience of leading and developing staff and contributing to school improvement.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and develop colleagues through coaching, mentoring and professional development.
  • High expectations for behaviour, achievement and attitudes to learning.
  • Strong understanding of assessment, pupil progress and effective school self-evaluation.
  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum and current educational priorities.
  • Experience or understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Commitment to inclusion and ensuring every child flourishes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build positive relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate with the Headteacher and leadership team while taking initiative.
  • Understands and values the Christian character of a Church of England school.
  • Reflective, resilient, compassionate and committed to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing high-quality teaching and learning across the school.
  • Modelling excellent classroom practice and supporting colleagues to develop their professional practice.
  • Using assessment and pupil progress information to identify priorities and improve outcomes.
  • Supporting school self-evaluation, strategic planning and school improvement.
  • Developing and coaching staff and contributing to professional development and performance management.
  • Promoting high expectations for behaviour, attitudes to learning and achievement.
  • Championing inclusion and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
  • Taking a lead role in safeguarding and promoting a strong culture of safeguarding across the school.
  • Supporting the day-to-day leadership and management of the school.
  • Assuming responsibility for the management of the school in the Headteacher's absence.
  • Working positively with children, staff, parents, governors, the church and wider community.
  • Promoting and developing the distinctive Christian character and ethos of our school.
