Job summary

Catsfield CEP is a small but aspirational village school in East Sussex. The Governing Body is seeking a Deputy Headteacher to work closely with the Headteacher in leading and developing the school for children’s academic, social and emotional flourishing.

The successful candidate will have extensive primary leadership experience, a proven track record of improving teaching and learning, a commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and partnership with parents. Interview date: 21 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Outstanding practitioner across the primary age range
• Leadership experience with whole-school impact
• Understanding of high-quality teaching and learning

• Ability to promote Christian ethos within a Church of England school
• Belief in partnership between pupils, staff and parents

Responsibilities

• Support Headteacher in leading and developing the school
• Lead teaching and learning to drive school improvement
• Work with governors and staff to achieve strategic goals
• Promote safeguarding, well-being and inclusive practices
• Balance teaching with leadership time (0.8 teaching, 1 day leadership)
• Foster positive relationships with the school community
