Job description

Please note: Informal visits to see the school and meet the headteacher are encouraged before applying.

Our Deputy Head Teachers are passionate about making even the smallest positive changes in our young people. We celebrate these 'huge small victories'—small on the surface, but impactful in making a big difference.

Get out what you put in

You'll work with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Alongside the Head Teacher, you'll set the school's vision, ensuring we have the right people and plans to help our young people leave feeling proud of their achievements. Resilience and dedication are essential, but the rewards—these huge small victories—will make you proud.

It can be a challenging journey, but positive progress will make it worthwhile. As a Deputy Head Teacher at Witherslack Group, you'll receive full support from the management team and specialists. Your colleagues will be highly skilled, the school environments well-resourced, and we'll support you every step of the way in building a rewarding career.

One of the best environments in SEND

Luxborough Court School is a new, purpose-built facility for 150 pupils aged 5-19 with ASD. It features a large sports hall, changing facilities (located on a former Premier League training ground), a bespoke 6th form suite, and various therapeutic and support spaces. The school benefits from extensive outdoor areas, a central courtyard garden, and separate playgrounds with a multi-use games area.

Accessible via public transport, Chigwell Station is less than a mile away, providing Central Line services to London and Essex. The site is near the M11, Junction 4.

What we do for you

We value your dedication and offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • Full induction and on-the-job training

  • School holidays as a reward for your hard work

  • Opportunities for career progression, with many head teachers promoted from within

  • Flexible benefits, such as options to tailor life insurance and more

  • Range of pension schemes, including Teachers' Pension and attractive alternatives

  • Wellbeing support, including employee assistance programs

  • Medical cover for optical, dental appointments, and high-street discounts

  • Modern facilities and beautiful working environments

  • A 'recommend a friend' scheme offering a £1,000 bonus per successful referral
