A leading alternative provision seeks a Deputy Head to ensure statutory compliance and provide a nurturing educational environment. The role involves leadership, monitoring school performance, and supporting staff development. Ideal candidates will have relevant educational qualifications and a passion for improving student lives.
This Alternative Provision offers a holistic and flexible educational experience, specially designed for young people who haven't found success in mainstream education. We are collectively committed to nurturing each student, ensuring they leave TAS as well-rounded individuals prepared for a positive transition into further education, employment, or training.
Our educational programs annually serve up to 190 pupils across our schools. These students often require a smaller, more nurturing, and individualised approach to their learning. This includes young people facing exclusion, at risk of exclusion, previously home-educated, looked-after children, those with diagnosed or undiagnosed Special Educational Needs (SEN), high-risk assessments, youth justice education orders, drug and alcohol misuse, school phobia, victims of bullying, severe mental health issues, trauma, and many other complex reasons for referral. Our 'Open Door' admissions policy reflects our dedication to offering a place to every referred child, ensuring they feel happy, nurtured, and supported within our community.
As Deputy Head, ensure the school complies with all statutory requirements and safeguarding policies, maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students.
Key responsibilities:
o Personal & Social Development for each pupil and whole school (PSD Tracker)
o Predicted grades v's actual grades. o End of year whole school results and benchmark o Oversee attendance, admissions, whole school tracking, with the support from the School Business Manager
o Local authority tracking o 10 Point assessment
o Maths, English tracking per pupil and campus
Person specification:
This AP takes the safeguarding of young people very seriously. All potential employees and volunteers MUST agree to an enhanced DBS check, 2 reference checks and complete the application process as set out in our Safer Recruitment Policy. Once employed your role will involve you following ALL policies, keeping abreast of safeguarding policies /procedures at all times and attending compulsory Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment training's. This role involves working with Vulnerable young people and this AP will continue to monitor staff/volunteer behaviour and actions as part of our Safer School Culture.
