Job Description:

As a key member of the Tours & Operations Team, this role delivers both an ongoing programme of ‘business-as-usual’ engagements for the Party Leader and the Shadow Cabinet and, in parallel, updates a comprehensive nationwide database of prospective visits that can be utilised during election campaigns.

Role responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver shadow ministerial visits, working with MPs, candidates and the Leader’s Office to programme political engagement and visits.
  • Preparation, planning, organisation and delivery of Conservative Party events, tours and visits.
  • Proactive interaction with the media to ensure publicity for Conservative Party events, tours and visits.
  • Accompanying and staffing Conservative Party events, tours and visits.
  • Logistics and organisation of travel arrangements for Party events, tours and visits.
  • Help prepare election visits strategies, including a planned list of visits, big set piece events and shadow ministerial engagement.
  • Work with the Conference team to prepare and deliver the Conference agenda for the Leader, while overseeing the delivery of shadow ministerial involvement.

Other

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as required by the needs of the team and the Party.
  • Provide holiday cover for other members of the team in accordance with the holiday cover schedule.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders
  • Keep any professional qualifications up to date.

Professional experience and qualifications

  • Experience of event management and delivery
  • Prior political experience not essential however a sound knowledge of current affairs and political awareness is essential

Skills required

  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills with the ability to tailor message and style appropriately
  • Creative, with a strong ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to problems and opportunities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to organise and prioritise a demanding workload personally
  • A personal commitment to the values of the Conservative Party
