Job description

Never has there been a more exciting time to join our Creative and Performing Arts department as we embark on an ambitious journey to elevate arts education and inspire the next generation of creative talent. We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Deputy Head of School - Creative and Performing Arts to play a key leadership role in shaping the future of our students and the department. Following a recent restructure, this newly created position will be pivotal in fostering a centre of excellence for the creative and performing arts. Working closely with the Director, the Deputy Head will lead on developing partnerships with employers, curriculum development, student engagement, and innovative teaching strategies across the department, ensuring an exceptional learning experience that prepares students for thriving careers in the creative industries.

The Deputy Head will provide strategic and operational leadership, driving outstanding teaching and learning within the Creative and Performing Arts department. They will work alongside the Director to develop a visionary curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners across Further and Higher Education. They will inspire and lead a team of dedicated educators to deliver engaging, industry-relevant experiences that equip students with the skills and confidence to succeed. Additionally, the role requires championing student success and progression, developing enrichment activities, performances, exhibitions, and real-world creative opportunities.

Strengthening industry partnerships is also essential to ensure our students benefit from cutting-edge professional insights, collaborations, and employability pathways. The Deputy Head will foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence while maintaining high standards in student outcomes and staff development. We are seeking an individual who is visionary, inspiring, and deeply committed to creative education. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creative or performing arts education, with experience in curriculum design and leadership.

They should have a track record of success in driving student achievement and departmental growth, along with the ability to motivate, mentor, and manage a team of educators to deliver outstanding teaching and learning. A passion for innovation in arts education, embracing digital and interdisciplinary approaches, is key. Excellent communication and organisational skills are also essential, with the ability to forge strong relationships with students, staff, and industry partners.
