Job description

We are seeking a Deputy Head of Research Strategy and Funding Team (Deputy HRSFT) to enhance and enable outstanding and transformative medical sciences research at the University of Oxford. You will support the delivery of research priorities during a period when the Head of Team undertakes a part-time external secondment.

You will drive strategy and policy development, maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, and ensure effective delivery across strategic research initiatives, internal funding streams, external funding, and engagement.

You will provide senior strategic and operational leadership for three core areas - Funding, Engagement, and Research Themes - and deputise across the broader research support portfolio. This is a challenging role requiring excellent skills in strategic thinking, operational leadership, developing and implementing policy, written and oral communication and personnel management. You will need to relate well to staff at all levels, having the ability to deal sensitively and tactfully with complex situations.
