We have an exciting opportunity for someone with the right experience to join the MSEFT Patient Safety Team. We are a small team with a real focus on the patient and staff experience.
The Deputy Head of Patient Safety will be key in supporting and developing professional leadership and supporting Trust processes for patient safety including the response to and management of incidents, investigations, never events, Duty of Candour and compliance with national patient safety alerts.
You will support the Head of Patient Safety and the Associate Director for Patient Safety in implementing national and local initiatives and improvements and enhancing a proactive patient safety culture.
You will also be required to provide leadership across groups of staff, within the Trust to inform the patient safety & quality improvements.
The role is required to work leading patient safety across all sites within the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust footprint.
The Deputy Head of Patient Safety will be the lead expert overseeing the day-to-day response to incidents and management of the incident management system.
You will provide day-to-day leadership and line management to the Patient Safety Managers in the review and response to reported incidents including meeting the Duty of Candour and the Datix system team.
You will play a pivotal role in supporting the systems and guidance in place for the investigation of serious incidents, including assigning investigation leads, meeting Duty of Candour, establishing terms of reference, undertaking investigations, report writing and quality assurance of reports.
You will provide advice on patient safety and quality to Leadership teams and clinical staff as required developing proactive relationships with services to foster sharing of best practice and corporate learning.
You will maintain the integrity and security of the risk management system overseeing the quality of data entry and system access.
You will provide support to the Head of Patient Safety in ensuring an appropriate Trust response to national Patient safety alerts, working with individual alert leads as required to achieve required timescales.
