Job description

Deputy Head of Maths Teacher
Area: Cambridgeshire
Salary: MPS/UPS. Dependent on experience with TLR
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Starting April or September 2025

A highly reputable and rapidly growing secondary school in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, is seeking an ambitious and dedicated Deputy Head of Maths to join its permanent staff from April 2025 or earlier.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within a dynamic and supportive Mathematics department. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum, driving outstanding teaching and learning, and inspiring students to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in leading and managing the Mathematics department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  2. Support curriculum development and assessment strategies to enhance student outcomes.
  3. Mentor and develop staff within the department, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  4. Teach Mathematics across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential opportunities to teach at Key Stage 5).

Person Specification:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in Mathematics.
  2. Proven experience in teaching Maths at secondary level with excellent subject knowledge.
  3. Experience in a leadership role within a department or as an aspiring leader looking to take the next step.
  4. A passion for education with a commitment to student progress and achievement.
  5. Strong communication, organisational, and team-working skills.
  6. Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead both students and colleagues.
