The Deputy Head of Lighting, alongside the Head of Lighting, will provide an effective and flexible service to ensure the delivery of lighting requirements for all in-house, co-productions and the visiting programme.

The Role
On joining TRP, we will introduce you to our core values and work through how they will help you deliver an excellent technical service. Here are some of the key duties you will undertake:
- Support the Head of Lighting (HoL) to provide an effective and flexible service to ensure the delivery of lighting requirements for all in-house, co-productions and the visiting programme.
- Ensure delivery to the highest standard of work and oversee the delivery of the health and safety policy regarding TRP Lighting facilities.
- Responsibility for the leadership and organisation of lighting show running teams alongside the HoL.
- Maintain and ensure good housekeeping of areas, equipment and stock to high standards and within the requirements of health and safety legislation.
- Develop Lighting Technicians staff through appraisal and training.
- Deliver projects within budgets as agreed with managers.
- Participate and lead get-ins and get-outs of in-house, co-produced and visiting productions as required, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of lighting equipment through knowledge of current theatre practice.
- Be involved in show-running as required and occasional duty technical management.
- Deputise for the HoL as required.
- Program on ETC consoles for future shows, both small scales, 1-night performances and eventually larger in-house productions depending on ability and opportunities.
- Assist in the appropriate and efficient scheduling and staffing of TRP’s venues in conjunction with the HoL.
- Regular contributions to technical staff meetings.
- Assist in the forward planning of technical activities in venues within the Theatre Royal as necessary, in conjunction with relevant managers.
- Implement departmental maintenance programmes and manage stage equipment and stock as required.
- Undertake show maintenance as required.
- Involvement in learning and self-development opportunities including Creative Learning activities, support of Apprenticeship schemes and courses as appropriate.
- Any other reasonable duties as may be requested from time to time including occasional cross-venue working, support of toured work externally, and courses or reconnaissance work outside of Plymouth.
- Be aware of the Health and Safety policies of the company and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation in areas of control.
