The Fortune Theatre is one of London’s smallest West End theatres, with only 432 seats. Built in 1924 and opened on 8th November 1924, it is a grade II listed building that has retained its art deco style. Named after the original Fortune Theatre at the Barbican, where Shakespeare once performed, it was designed by Ernest Schaufelberg on the site of the former Albion Tavern. It was the first theatre built after World War I. The first show performed here was ‘Sinners’ by Laurence Cowen. The Fortune Theatre was home to Women in Black from 1989 for 33 years. It is now home to the 5-star rated show Operation Mincemeat.
The Deputy Head of Electrics will assist the Heads of Department and the Technical & Buildings Manager with the daily technical operations of the theatre. Responsibilities include assisting with get-ins, fit-ups, and get-outs of new productions and visiting events, as well as supporting maintenance and upkeep of the theatre facilities.
