Job summary

A well-known theatre company in London seeks a Deputy Head of Automation for their production. You will assist in managing the Automation department and maintain equipment while ensuring adherence to health and safety policies. Ideal candidates have experience in large-scale musicals and are adept at both operational and educational aspects of automation.

Cameron Mackintosh Ltd are looking for a Deputy Head of Automation for the London production of Oliver! We are recruiting candidates with proven experience of working on large-scale musicals of the highest calibre.

Key Responsibilities
  • assist the head of department in the co-ordinating the efficient management of the Automation department;
  • cover the backstage automation plot for performances, rehearsals and other events as required;
  • operate the automation desk for performances, rehearsals and other events as required;
  • cover the Head of Automation when they are absent;
  • help maintain all automation equipment to a high standard;
  • assist in the creation and maintenance of an up to date maintenance record and show bible
  • be prepared to teach or learn any show plots when necessary;
  • attend meetings or training courses as required;
  • provide accurate time sheets on a weekly basis
  • attend promotional events such as publicity and photographic calls, press and media interviews and press junkets as required;
  • being aware of the Producer’s health and safety policies and ensuring that requirements in relation to health and safety are met within the department;
  • upholding and promoting at all times the Producer’s child protection policy and related procedures and guidelines;
  • comply with the Producer’s policies and procedures in force from time to time, including but not limited to the Producer’s policies on Equal Opportunities, Bullying and Harassment, Safeguarding, Social Media, Data Protection.
  • undertake any other reasonable duties asked for by the Producer
