Job summary

Farleigh School seeks an outstanding Deputy Head (Academic) to join our Senior Management Team from September 2027. The role leads teaching, learning and academic standards, ensuring the Catholic ethos is embedded across the school.

The Deputy Head (Academic) will oversee curriculum design, assessment and reporting, staff development and compliance with inspection requirements, working with pupils, parents and staff to support every child to reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with QTS or equivalent and degree in a relevant subject.
• Proven leadership experience in a school setting.
• Experience in curriculum design and academic leadership.
• Experience with monitoring teaching and learning and data to improve outcomes.
• Experience working with parents and staff to maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership – lead academic matters within SMT and across the school.
• Teaching and Learning – monitor and evaluate teaching and learning across the school.
• Curriculum Leadership – design, implement and review the curriculum.
• Assessment, Reporting and Tracking – monitor pupil progress and reporting.
• Staff Leadership, Development and Wellbeing – line manage HoDs and academic staff.
• Scholarship and Senior School Transfer – lead scholarship and entrance preparation.
• Catholic Ethos – uphold Catholic mission, ethos and values.
• Safeguarding, Compliance, Pastoral and Boarding – ensure highest standards.
• External Relations and School Development – support marketing, admissions and business development.
