Deputy Head Grounds Person

We are looking for a Deputy Head Grounds Person to assist the Head Grounds Person in the day-to-day maintenance and general upkeep of the stadium's professional playing pitch at CBS Arena, the home of Coventry City Football Club.

1. Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the management of the professional pitch and related tasks in the absence of the Head Grounds Person.
2. Uphold ground standards by effectively managing all grounds activities to meet recognised standards and ensure availability for the club and stadium.
3. Manage health and safety by checking facilities, plant, buildings, and equipment to ensure safe working practices and compliance with safety standards.
4. Oversee equipment management, including maintenance, servicing, and storage.
5. Assist in pitch renovation, including hybrid and natural pitches, using equipment such as tractors, trailers, sand spreaders, and seeders.
6. Operate machinery used in the maintenance and renovation of grassed areas, such as ride-on and pedestrian mowers, turf cutters, edgers, and scarification equipment.
7. Gather and record data to develop trend analysis for past usage.

Qualifications

What we are looking for

• NVQ Level 3 or above in greenkeeping and grounds management or equivalent qualification.
• Spraying certificates PA1, PA2, and PA6 (Desirable).
• Experience in grounds maintenance, including hybrid and artificial surfaces, with knowledge of horticulture and gardens.
• Experience using turf care equipment.
• Competent IT skills.
• Experience managing pitch lighting systems.
• Knowledge of managing and maintaining irrigation systems.
• Experience managing teams, planning workloads, allocating duties, and monitoring performance.
• Good mechanical knowledge of equipment and routine maintenance skills.
• Ability to operate a wide range of turf care equipment.
