About the Role

Leeds Sixth Form College is recruiting a Deputy Head to support the Assistant Principal in all aspects of departmental leadership and management, with a focus on quality, teaching, learning, assessment, and securing outstanding student outcomes.

The college offers a diverse range of full-time education programs for learners aged 16-18 and 19+, including A Levels and vocational courses from Level 2 to Level 3, encompassing both academic and vocational pathways.

The role involves curriculum management responsibilities for the GCSE provision for both 16-18 and adult learners, suitable for candidates with previous line management experience and a strong focus on teaching, learning, and assessment (TLA).

What You Will Do

  • Support the Assistant Principal in departmental leadership, focusing on quality, teaching, learning, assessment, and student outcomes.
  • Model outstanding teaching and learning practices.
  • Manage and develop lecturers and staff within the department.
  • Ensure efficient department operations and financial targets are met.
  • Oversee course delivery, ensuring compliance with awarding body, funding, and quality standards.
  • Lead on curriculum development within a defined section, aligning with national and local priorities, funding changes, and growth areas, while securing excellent outcomes for students and employers.

About You

  • Hold a Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE).
  • Possess a relevant higher-level vocational qualification or degree in teaching within the curriculum area.
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and high professional standards.
  • Experience managing a curriculum, including planning, monitoring, and review.
  • Good understanding of college operations and broader educational issues.
  • Ability to generate new ideas, see opportunities and challenges.
  • Experience promoting restorative practices and relationship building.
  • Act as a positive role model and embody college values: Collaborative, Inspiring, Passionate, Aspirational, Celebrate Individuality, Respectful.
  • Comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
