Job summary

Hall & Woodhouse is recruiting a Deputy General Manager for The Ship, Weymouth, a premium pub with harbour views. The role offers a salary up to £36K with benefits, bonus, and a clear career pathway to GM. Based in Weymouth, you’ll lead diverse teams and uphold high standards of service and quality food and drink.

You’ll be supported by structured development and mentoring, with opportunities to grow within a values-led, family-owned Dorset brewer renowned for its hospitality excellence.

Qualifications

• An experienced DGM, AM or Supervisor with great leadership capability within branded hospitality.
• Competent in kitchen oversight and the control of food production.
• Based in the local, area or planning to relocate
• An expert in quality food and drink, with high attention to detail
• A commercially minded operator with experience growing hospitality businesses
• Diligent with operational standards and processes
• Well-presented, analytical and proactive in problem-solving
• Able to commit to supporting the GM to build a great team and business
• Determined to develop and maintain outstanding hospitality for our guests
• A natural host who loves making people’s day
• Flexible and resilient with a solutions-first mindset

Part of the Hall & Woodhouse family of iconic pubs the Ship was the first owned by Hall & Woodhouse it has been a member of the family since 1856. There have been many changes over the years like the addition of our upstairs restaurant with stunning views of Weymouth Harbour and our beautiful sunny courtyard. Today the Ship is the perfect place to rest and relax year round, whether it’s watching the boats coming in and out of the harbour, if you’re lucky you might even see the daily catch being docked right outside our front door, or relaxing in front of a roaring log fire with a pint of Badger Beer. The Ship is glorious in the summer and cosy in the winter.
