We're recruiting for a driven and dedicated Deputy FM Manager to join our Facilities Management (FM) team at HMP Doncaster, a category B local resettlement prison in South Yorkshire, housing up to 1145 males, including approximately 200 young offenders aged 18-20.
The Deputy FM Manager reports to the FM Manager and is responsible for the daily organisation of work, task allocation, work progress tracking, stock management, and ensuring maintenance plans meet operational and contractual needs. The role acts as a link between trades and FM management.
The main duties include:
- Assist in developing maintenance plans ensuring safety and compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities using the SFG20 programme in the CAFM system, prioritising safety, compliance, and contractual needs.
- Provide assurance that work meets high standards.
- Allocate work daily to trades and staff, monitor progress, and manage productivity.
- Ensure tools and equipment are inspected and used properly.
- Oversee contractor work, ensuring adherence to risk assessments and quality standards.
- Provide leadership to ensure team understanding and high productivity.
- Monitor spending, produce data, and manage procurement for maintenance needs.
- Authorize overtime within policies.
- Promote safety and wellbeing within the team, reflecting Serco’s core values.
- Make operational decisions within delegated authority and deputise for the FM Manager when needed.
- Participate in the out-of-hours call-out roster.
Qualifications and experience required:
- Qualified as an Approved Electrician (JIB) with 18th edition, City & Guilds, or equivalent, or as a Level 3 Fire and Security Systems Technician.
- Qualified as an Approved Person for permitted work with contractor management experience.
- Operational knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, quality assurance, and COSHH.
- Experience with CAFM systems, SLAs, KPIs, and managing diverse teams.
- Proven ability to manage workflow and supervise work for quality and productivity.
- Full UK driving license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
