Job description

Ensuring the Trust Board has appropriate assurances that the requirements of current fire safety legislation are met across the Trust and, where appropriate, compliance with the objectives of the Fire Code.

Co-ordinating fire safety issues throughout the organisation’s activities.

Overseeing day-to-day implementation of the fire safety policies.

Managing the fire safety teams across Manchester University Foundation Trust.

Ensuring all new construction and renovation works across the Trust comply with Building Regulations and HTM Guidance regarding fire safety.

Ensuring Helipad operations are compliant with CAA recommendations and that the facility is manned and operational during scheduled hours.

Deputising for and assisting the Fire Safety Manager in undertaking tasks such as:

1. Ensuring effective arrangements are in place to deal with fire outbreaks and alarm activations, including developing and maintaining relationships with the PFI Consortium at Oxford Rd and Wythenshawe sites, Trust Estates Teams, and other FM service providers.
2. Line management of fire safety teams across the Trust, including the Helipad team.
3. Co-ordinating fire safety issues across all sites and community properties.
4. Maintaining and improving fire safety standards throughout the Trust.
5. Developing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing the fire safety management system and procedures.
6. Ensuring fire risk assessments are conducted, recorded, and outcomes reported.
7. Chairing fire safety groups and committees as needed.
8. Attending and preparing reports for the Operational Health and Safety Group.
9. Advising management on compliance with fire safety legislation, standards, and guidance.
