Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual to join the Trust, as a key member of the Financial Management team.

The role includes the responsibility for assisting the Finance Manager and wider Financial Management team. This involves providing high quality and wide ranging financial expertise, information and advice on complex financial and performance issues to directors and senior operational staff within the directorates, and advising the Director of Finance on all aspects regarding the overall performance of the Care Group.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will ideally have previous NHS finance experience, and be an AAT member or studying towards a CCAB Professional Qualification. However, exceptional candidates who do not fully meet all this criteria may be considered.

This post is based at York Hospital, but will involve occasional cross-site working at Scarborough Hospital and other Trust sites. Therefore, the ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy.

The successful candidate will become a Band 7 upon completion of their Accountancy qualification (CCAB or CIMA). Whilst training, they will receive a Band 6 salary.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • The post holder will hold a current Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 4 Qualification.
  • Will be able to advise finance and nonfinance managers on matters relating to their own areas
  • Studying towards a Professional Accountancy Qualification (CCAB or CIMA)

Experience

  • The post holder will have a theoretical and practical understanding of the NHS financial regime and will be required to demonstrate knowledge of financial and accounting procedures, with knowledge of financial management
