Job description

As the Deputy Farmshop Manager, you will support the Farmshop Manager in leading a customer-focused and commercially driven department. Your role involves growing and developing a knowledgeable and caring team, championing our producers, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience that we are known for.

You will:

  1. Proactively develop your skills to assist and deputise in the absence of the Unit Manager.
  2. Lead the team to meet departmental goals aligned with the company's business plan.
  3. Ensure Service Leaders deliver excellent customer service and brand standards on every shift.
  4. Develop specialists within your team to be experts and commercially minded.
  5. Oversee training for new starters and identify areas for team development.
  6. Manage daily operations, including stock control and cash handling.
  7. Take responsibility for the financial performance, including sales, margins, waste reduction, and budget management.
  8. Continuously improve the offering by considering the customer perspective and acting on opportunities for commercial benefit.
  9. Manage rota, absence, performance, and conduct of Service Leaders and colleagues.
  10. Coach colleagues to perform their roles effectively, including cash handling, stock management, and training completion.
  11. Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant environment.
  12. Collaborate with the People team to recruit, train, and supervise staff to optimize performance.
  13. Work closely with the Commercial team to ensure product standards align with our brand.

Candidates must have:

  • Aspirations to become a department manager.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-turnover operation.
  • Good commercial acumen, including financial controls, sales, stock, and wastage management.
  • Experience in recruiting, managing, and developing teams.
  • Ability to write business plans and set team goals.
