Job description

Deputy Endoscopy Team Lead (RGN/ODP/Other RHP)

This role will support the Endoscopy Team Lead, in theleadership, co-ordination, and development of the endoscopy services. Acting asa clinical resource, promoting excellence in clinical practice by supportingthe clinical team in ensuring the highest standards of care is provided topatients. This will be achieved by using a philosophy of care underpinned bypolicy, procedures, protocols, clinical guidelines, audits, business strategiesand priorities. We have 3 vacancies for this role, at our Thorpe Park Clinic, Northgate Medical Centre and our newly refurbished Fountain Medical Centre.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the Team Lead by co-ordinating the endoscopy unit,as part of the leadership team to ensure the smooth running of the patientlists, taking responsibility for staffing levels, audit completion, stafftraining/ competence, equipment maintenance and staff management.

Champion the mandatory use of JETS Workforce as a competencyplatform.

Support the Team Lead and Endoscopy Nurse Manager inestablishing effective communication

To manage the team including HR processes such asappraisals, 1:1s, team meetings, probation reviews, performance development,performance management and return to work interviews.

Seek advice from other Endoscopy Team Leads and escalateoperational challenges to the Endoscopy Nurse Manager where appropriate.

Offer advice on nursing practice ensuring the endoscopy teamare using current evidence-based practice.

Provide safe, quality, evidence-based care within a busydiagnostic Endoscopy Unit.

Assess, plan and implement care per local and nationalpolicies and guidelines including JAG

Participate and assist with endoscopic procedures and thedecontamination of endoscopes.

Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.

Assume accountability of autonomous practice.

To support a culture of continuous quality improvement,evaluating standards of care and leading in the implementation of changes andnursing development.

Help support nursing research and maintain own knowledge,skills, expertise and experience.

Offer ideas and partake in the formulation of the EndoscopyUnit philosophy, strategy and policy under the guidance of the lead nurse.

Supervision, teaching/mentoring of nursing assistants,arrangement of training and mandatory study days.

Maintain a Personal Professional Portfolio in accordancewith the requirements of NMC and HCPC revalidation.

To contribute to the implementation and review of Health andSafety and Security procedures for the benefit of staff and patients by liaisonwith practice health and safety personnel.

To contribute to the formulation of infection controlpolicies and ensure compliance.

To produce and maintain accurate clinical records oftreatments and procedures.

Management of medical supplies and stock control.

Support each unit by cross site working where there is aservice requirement.

Qualifications
  • NMC registered nurse or HCPC registered ODP
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Basic IT skills and ability to work with online programmes such as SystmOne
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • To be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience),
  • Knowledge of working within endoscopy unit
  • To have Preparation for mentorship course (ENB998) or equivalent
  • Access to own transportation to support cross site working
