Summary

At the University of Birmingham, students are at the heart of all we do. You will lead and manage a professional services team passionate about providing excellent administrative support for students and staff.

You will oversee administration supporting academic staff and the delivery of teaching and research programs for students, managing teams of Professional Services staff and working closely with senior academic and professional services colleagues.

Main Duties

Administrative Service

  • Ensure accuracy and quality control/data checking methodologies.
  • Support the development of plans within your service area and participate in university committees as required.
  • Prepare and deliver management and institutional reports, analyzing complex data sets.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve general issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Act as a key contact between your area, College, and University, keeping staff informed of changes and policies.
  • Engage in process improvement and service development.

Education Support

  • Manage all teaching and learning activities in compliance with regulations, supporting quality audits and reports.
  • Collaborate with academic and professional staff to adapt administrative support to changing needs.
  • Focus on enhancing the student experience and support student engagement.
  • Manage education-related projects.

Staff Management and Recruitment

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for supporting the educational strategy.
  • Recruit, support, mentor, and train staff.
  • Promote diversity and an inclusive work environment.
  • Plan team structures and resource allocation.
  • Manage staff performance and build team relationships.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent; relevant work experience if no degree.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Qualifications including GCSEs in English and Mathematics.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence change, organize effectively, and meet deadlines.
