Job summary

Immediate Media Co is seeking a Deputy Editor for Pokémon on a 3-month fixed-term contract. You will steer content direction across Pokémon magazine and MEGA, coordinating with editors, writers and designers to deliver compelling editorial that fits the brand.

You’ll lead editorial decisions in the editor’s absence, manage staff and freelancers, and help grow profitability and audience by delivering timely, creative content across print and digital platforms.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Pokémon brand and gaming.
• First-class writing skills for print and digital content.
• Organisation and time-management with ability to prioritise tight deadlines.
• Experience on a children's magazine/brand is preferable.
• Ability to foster a positive working environment and build sources for features.
• Willingness to learn new skills, including AI tools.
• Knowledge of the children’s media market in all forms (film, TV, gaming, apps).
• Understanding of media law and picture copyright is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Make editorial decisions and direct content across Pokémon magazine and MEGA.
• Collaborate with editor and staff to meet deadlines and quality goals.
• Manage staff and freelancers to produce engaging, reader-focused content.
• Origin and develop new ideas for each magazine/brand while maintaining brand integrity.
• Ensure all content is on-brand and on deadline; follow brand guidelines.
• Monitor trends and digital opportunities to stay ahead of competitors.
• Oversee production process from concept to final product.
