Band 8d

To provide a clean, comfortable, safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients and staff through a wide range of Facilities Services, utilizing a diverse workforce. Facilities Services must align with all Government targets, initiatives, and mandatory legislation.

Facilities Services include catering, domestic services, laundry and linen, portering, post room, switchboard staff, car parking, customer services, reception, waste management, security, patient and staff transport, community property administration, and other minor contracts. The postholder will lead the Trust’s sustainability plan.

Act as a patient champion for the environment, ensuring all Facilities services are designed, developed, and delivered with the patient as the customer.

The postholder will also oversee the Estate Team when the Director of Estates and Facilities is absent or requests support.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership of the Facilities teams
  • Provision of high-quality care and acting as a Patient Environment Advocate
  • Strategic service development for Estates & Facilities Services
  • Effective value for money, cost, and efficiency improvements
  • Liaison with staff and patients
  • Provision of a high-quality, safe, and clean environment
  • Providing professional advice and support to executives, senior managers, and clinical colleagues, including interpretation and application of policy changes, guidance, and best practices
  • Effective management of staff accommodation
  • Development and review of Facilities operational risk registers and ownership of incident management, with robust risk mitigation strategies
  • Ensuring compliance with industry and NHS guidance and legislation

Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough, as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital.

CUH offers over 100 specialist services and is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre, and the Crocus home birthing team.

Purley War Memorial Hospital provides outpatient care, diagnostic services, physiotherapy, and ophthalmology services in partnership with Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.
