In this Deputy Director role leading the KA Ecosystem and Strategy Development team, you will play a key role in this mission. The team has a fascinating range of work that includes: working with stakeholders to develop strategy for KA management and commercialisation; producing KA guidance, including ownership of the HMG Rose Book; developing KA capability in our client base; delivering to a communications and engagement strategy, including our flagship annual reports and conference; and much more.

If you’re an inspirational leader who is commercially and innovation minded, experienced in policy development and programme delivery, and attracted by the challenge of working in our unit, we’d love to hear from you.

You and your team will work closely with the Commercialisation team, which includes our Tech Transfer Strategic Partners (TTSPs) and the Commercialisation KA Fund, to deliver to our policy objectives.

You will build on and maintain fruitful relationships with Ministers, colleagues across DSIT and other government departments, particularly in HMT, to influence the KA agenda and with external partners and stakeholders, through an open and engaging style of working.

Our people are at the heart of our success in GOTT and you will bring thoughtful and authentic leadership that aligns with our values and behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver appropriate policy interventions.
  • Deliver a range of supporting activities to boost capability in the client base including – practical guidance and KA commercialisation publications, the KA network, flagship GOTT events, and promotion of KA commercialisation to the client base.
  • Ensure delivery to mandate through leading SR preparations, provision of data and reporting and evaluation of GOTT activities.
  • Lead on Ministerial submissions for the unit.
  • Be a prominent leadership figure, supporting GOTT's CEO and playing a critical role in maintaining a positive internal culture and ways of working.
  • You will work closely with the DD Commercialisation, seeking ways to align and integrate workplans and expertise to maximise team effectiveness and ensure coherent delivery to GOTT’s objectives.
