We are seeking a Deputy Design Authority to work within the Electronics division. You will oversee and support the design authorities of sub-systems for an underwater system. The role involves engaging with complex development projects throughout their lifecycle and contributing to all phases.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leading peer and design reviews of electrical and electronic sub-systems.
  2. Supporting engineers in detailed electronic circuit design, including component selection, evaluation, simulation, schematic capture, and collaboration with PCB design teams.
  3. Assisting in the specification of bespoke procured hardware.
  4. Designing verification processes using simulation, analysis, and testing, including support for EMC testing and customer installations.
  5. Generating design documentation and technical reports.
  6. Interfacing with related disciplines and supporting system integration activities.
  7. Applying engineering knowledge and skills to resolve technical issues.
  8. Ensuring design compliance with safety legislation and customer requirements.
  9. Providing support to other project areas and facilitating peer review activities.
Qualifications and Experience:

You should have a degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or a related field, with experience in areas such as:

  • Component-level electronic design for volume production.
  • Digital design, including processor interfacing, memory, PLD, UARTs, SPI, I2C, Ethernet.
  • ADC/DAC techniques.
  • Analog design involving op-amps, transistors, control loops, low noise techniques.
  • High power techniques.
  • Design verification for environmental compliance, including EMC.
  • Mechanical design appreciation.
  • Design proving, integration, defect resolution, and safety evidence gathering.
  • High power/high voltage safety considerations.
  • Experience in defense or high safety integrity environments (preferred).
